Cristiano Ronaldo has now become the first player, who scored 100 competitive goals for four different clubs.
In his legendary career, the record-breaking moment came on August 23 at Hong Kong Stadium, but the night ended in misfortune for his team as Al-Nassr lost to Al-Ahli in a penalty shootout after a stunning Saudi Super Cup final finished 2-2.
The 40-year-old forward reached his century for Al-Nassr with a first-half strike, adding another chapter to his illustrious career. Ronaldo, who joined the Saudi Arabian club in December 2022, has now scored 100 goals in fewer than three years with them. His tally joins a glittering collection that already included 450 goals for Real Madrid, 145 for Manchester United, and 101 for Juventus.
By reaching this latest mark, Ronaldo has moved beyond the three players who had previously achieved 100 goals at three different clubs — Spanish great Isidro Langara, who played between 1930 and 1948, and Brazilian icons Romario and Neymar.
Ronaldo remains unmatched on the international stage as well, standing as the world’s all-time leading international scorer with 138 goals for Portugal. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner continues to set records even in the twilight of his career, reinforcing his place as one of football’s greatest ever players.
On the night, Al-Nassr seemed poised to hand Ronaldo his first major trophy in Saudi Arabia. He put them ahead in the 41st minute, calmly converting a penalty to etch his 100th goal. But the lead lasted only briefly, as Franck Kessie struck almost immediately to bring Al-Ahli level before the break.
The contest intensified in the second half, and with just seven minutes remaining, Marcelo Brozovic gave Al-Nassr fresh hope by restoring their lead. However, Al-Ahli fought back again. Brazilian defender Roger Ibanez rose highest to head in from a corner, forcing the match into a decisive penalty shootout.
Ronaldo, as expected, delivered once more from the spot in the shootout, but his teammates could not hold their nerve. Abdullah Al-Khaibari missed his attempt, handing Al-Ahli a 5-3 win and the first trophy of the Saudi Arabian season.
For Ronaldo, the personal triumph of reaching 100 goals for four clubs will stand as a defining achievement, even if the result was bittersweet. The Portuguese superstar has collected countless honors across his career — league titles in England, Spain, and Italy, five Champions League crowns, and international glory with Portugal. Yet in Saudi Arabia, a major domestic trophy continues to elude him.
Still, the forward’s influence remains undeniable. At an age when most players have long retired, Ronaldo continues to perform on the biggest stages, inspiring both teammates and fans worldwide. His determination, discipline, and hunger for success underline why he has remained at the very top of world football for more than two decades.
Al-Nassr will regroup quickly, aiming to build on Ronaldo’s brilliance as they chase silverware in the domestic and continental competitions ahead. For now, though, history belongs to their talisman, who once again proved that records and milestones bend to his will.
