Real Madrid executed a commanding showcase as they continue preparations for the 2025/26 season, brushing aside Austrian side WSG Tirol 4-0 in Innsbruck’s Tivoli Stadion.
First-half goals from Éder Militão and Kylian Mbappé paved the way, before the Frenchman added another after the break, and Rodrygo locked the resounding win.
Carreras made his debut, starting in defence, while Madrid wasted no time imposing their authority on the game. Within eight minutes, Mbappé tested the home goalkeeper with a fierce strike across goal that was punched away. Moments later, Arda Güler almost broke the deadlock, his curling effort from the edge of the box rattling the crossbar.
The breakthrough came on 10 minutes when Brahim Díaz delivered a pinpoint cross for Militão, whose powerful header found the net. Just three minutes later, Madrid doubled their lead. Güler threaded a precise pass into the box for Mbappé, who brought it under control with finesse before firing past the keeper with his left foot.
Madrid continued to dominate possession, with Brahim narrowly missing the target midway through the first half. WSG Tirol occasionally ventured forward, but the visitors remained in full control heading into the break.
Four minutes into the second half, Güler once again came close, his curling free-kick striking the woodwork for the second time in the match. Madrid’s third arrived around the hour mark when Aurélien Tchouameni played a lofted pass in behind the defence for Mbappé. The French forward rounded the advancing goalkeeper and slotted calmly into an empty net.
With the score at 3-0, several changes followed as Lunin, Carvajal, Rodrygo, Gonzalo, Alaba, Rüdiger, and Fran García entered the fray. Gonzalo nearly made an instant impact, heading over from a Güler cross in the 68th minute. WSG Tirol’s best chance came a minute later, when Anselm broke through one-on-one, but Lunin produced a fine save.
Mbappé went close to completing his hat-trick in the 71st minute, only for the goalkeeper to parry his powerful effort. More substitutions saw Asencio and Yáñez join the action, before Mbappé again tested the keeper with a low strike.
Madrid’s persistence paid off in the 81st minute. A neat exchange between Mbappé and Rodrygo ended with the Brazilian unleashing a thunderous right-footed shot to make it 4-0. In the closing stages, Thiago and Roberto Martín were handed debuts, with Thiago nearly adding a fifth.
It was a statement performance from Madrid, who combined sharp attacking play with defensive solidity. With Mbappé in electric form, Güler pulling the strings in midfield, and Militão’s aerial threat, the team looked ready for the challenges ahead.
The attention now turns to the season opener in LaLiga, where they will face Osasuna at the Santiago Bernabéu on Tuesday, 19 August at 9:00pm CEST.
